Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia - principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until needed positions are filled and/or the closing date of our announcement.We are seeking to identify qualified and interested adjunct faculty members in the following teaching disciplines and/or subject areas: ELECTRONICS/MANUFACTURING The adjunct professor will be responsible for teaching electronics and manufacturing courses in a hands-on experiential format. Professor will have knowledge and application of electronic devices, current microcontrollers, mechanical processes and machinery, and basic communication protocols. Students in these classes build on fundamental electronics and manufacturing skills to troubleshoot, design, and build different projects related to the course material. The instructor will be responsible for making sure the projects focus on industry skills and the materials are provided for students in a timely manner. Skills & Abilities:Ability to create positive classroom/lab culture that provides foundational knowledge for electronics and manufacturing coursesTeach in a hands-on, experiential formatKnowledge of a basic microcontrollersKnowledge of programming languages and how to troubleshootCreate open-ended problems for students to solve creativelyClassroom management of lab-based classrooms, including maintaining equipment and suppliesWork with students in a diverse environment with a sensitivity to all members of the community.
The successful candidate will possess expert skills, knowledge, experience and education in the subject area and a history of successful teaching or related experience.The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in the field or Associate's degree in the field with demonstrated competency in the teaching field. In addition, two years of related occupational experience is required.
